Summer Internship 2015: James Madison's Montpelier

Background:

In the few weeks leading up to my fulltime internship this past summer, I had the pleasure of having a mini internship at Montpelier in their events department. I worked under Kathy Artus, Director of Events and Hospitality at The Montpelier Foundation. Some of my responsibilities included updating and redesigning the guest information books for the on site guest houses, and assisting with events such as the 10th Annual Dolley Madison Legacy Luncheon pictured above. Being on the planning side of seeing an event coming together rather than the serving side was a great experience, because it shows how much work goes into something like this. Even though the internship was only a few weeks, I learned a lot about Montpelier and the wide variety of events that they have. It was wonderful opportunity as a JMU student to work with another organization centered around the history of James Madison.
