Barren Ridge Vineyards:
Working as a tasting room staff member at this winery has been a hugely educational experience for me. I maintain the bar, denote inventory, have complex knowledge of the wine list, pour tasting for guests, work events as a bartender, and keep the tasting room area clean and safe for customers. This has taught me a lot about interacting with a wide variety of guests from locals to industry professionals. I have learned so much about wine and everything thing goes into making the many blends and varietals we have at Barren Ridge. I believe that in the hospitality industry a wine background is an endlessly useful skill. My favorite part of the job is simply chatting with the guests during their tastings. I have learned that while wine knowledge is important, the key to a good tasting is being friendly and inquisitve toward your guest.
