Anna Sexton Grove
Hospitality Professional

Growing up on a farm in the small town of Gordonsville, Virginia, I became accustomed to a close-knit community and limited access to getting out of my comfort zone. I value this upbringing in that it brought me closer to my family, especially as an only child. It also fueled my desire to expand my horizons and explore the rest of the world. With my mom's side of the family being Austrian and my dad's side being Canadian, I was blessed with much diversity within my home. This created a blend of culture for me, and I am grateful for what both sides have contributed to my personality.

Background
Travel
Luckily, my family felt my desire to travel and agreed that introducing me to other cultures at an early age was a great idea. I was very fortunate to be able to explore areas of the world such as Scandinavia, Eastern Mediterranean, and even parts of Asia during my middle school years. I later got to see Austria and Canada, which gave me the amazing chance to explore my roots. My dad's hometown of St. John's, Newfoundland became like a second home to me. I have taken every opportunity to travel since, and these experiences are what fueled my interest in pursuing the hospitality field.

Skills & Ambitions
Since beginning my time at James Madison University I have worked in many postions falling in various sectors of the industry. This practice led me to believe that my interests are mainly within the events and hotel areas. My dream job would be a hybrid of technology, customer service, and geographical diversity. These traits incorporate my love of working with people in different places, and using today's evergrowing technology to do so. My goal is to complete a program that will allow me to enter one of these businesses at a managent level, preferably one that is multi-property or working to be so. I enjoy that no day in events or hotels is the same.
